On 20 September 2022, Uganda declared an Ebola disease outbreak caused by the Sudan ebolavirus species, after the confirmation of a case in Mubende district, the country’s first outbreak of this strain in over a decade. Our line list provided situational awareness during a critical time in the outbreak as authorities worked towards containment. This Ebola outbreak ended up ranking in the top 10 largest Ebola outbreaks ever recorded in terms of case magnitude with 164 cases (142 confirmed + 22 probable) and 55 confirmed deaths.
