The repository contains dated records of curated mpox cases from the 2024 outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and its spread to other countries.

In 2024, mpox cases surged in the DRC, coinciding with the emergence of a new variant, Clade 1b MPXV. The scale and spread of the outbreak prompted the World Health Organization to declare a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). During the first 100 days, Global.health curated over 57,000 cases across 27 countries, delivering structured and trusted data to support cross-border response efforts. Our dataset was used and cited by Our World in Data for outbreak visualization and analysis.
